San Bartolo Mural - Backstory
The Maya erected a domed building that within its interior are one-of-a-kind murals, painted with beautiful and bright colors. The murals are complex mythological scenes relating to the Maize God and the creation of the world, as well as the enthronement of a sovereign, which is part of the historical process of the Maya. The outside of the building is decorated with stucco masks flanking the stairways and entrance to the site.  Of all the buildings, the Pyramid of the Paintings is far and away the most complex and showcases, through its murals, a long tradition of painting and story telling.

The OLDUVAI GORGE:
WHY IS THIS PLACE SO IMPORTANT TO HUMANITY?

The Olduvai Gorge,TANZANIA, Africa is one of the most important sites in the world; it has proven invaluable in furthering understanding of early HUMAN EVOLUTION .

The GREAT RIFT VALLEY that stretches across EAST AFRICA, it is about 48 km (30 mi) long id another important archaeological site of early human occupation.

OLDOWAN tool - early technology
Stone tool manufacture characterized by distinctive oval and pear-shaped "hand-axes" associated with Homo Erectus.
HOMO HABILIS, probably the first early human species (TOOL MAKERS), occupied Olduvai Gorge approximately 1.9 million years ago (MYA); then HOMO ERECTUS, 1.2 (MYA).

Our species HOMO SAPIANS(LARGER BRAINS) which is estimated to have emerged roughly 300,000 years ago, is dated to have occupied the site 17,000 years ago.

The site is significant in showing the increasing developmental and social complexities in the earliest humans, or HOMONIDS, largely revealed in the production and use of STONE TOOLS.

The collecting of tools and animal remains in a central area is evidence of developing SOCIAL INTERACTION and communal activity.

All these factors indicate increase in BRAIN capacities at the beginning of the period of HOMONIDS transitioning to HOMONIM—that is, to human—form and behavior.

UNIVERSE:
Try to imagine something unimaginably tiny, unimaginably dense, and unimaginably hot. Then instantaneously, bang! — space, time, and all molecular material explode in a manner far beyond what words can describe.
EARTH:

Ever since the Big Bang, the Universe has been drifting and expanding. The birth and death of stars leave an aftermath of galaxies, planets, and even living organisms.
LIFE QUESTIONS:
What makes life on Earth so special?
How do you explain its diversity?
And what exactly is it?
